We’ve just enjoyed the fun of Carnival here on the beautiful island of Lefkada. Whilst this falls outside the usual holiday season it does demonstrate the wide cultural appeal of Lefkada that you can enjoy during a luxury villa holiday on Lefkada at Villa Gabriella Lefkada. Swim

Serious swimmers may enjoy a swimming adventure holiday. Try a tour of escorted island crossings and coastal swims in the Ionian.  Swimming around 5km per day in the clear turquoise waters known as the ‘inland sea’ (as it is so well protected from the wind) is a great way to exercise during your holiday!  And it allows you to enjoy the great food at numerous tavernas close by your Ionian villa with pool.

Windsurfing, Kayaks & SUPs

Tuition is available for dinghy sailing, windsurfing, sea kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding (or SUP boarding).  The principal centres are in Nidri (try Horizon Watersports), on the East coast of the island just below Villa Gabriella.  And at Vassiliki on the South – about a 20 minute drive away.  If you’re a little more experienced, you may just hire the equipment and enjoy the experience without the tuition.  Expect to pay approximately Euro 10 per hour. The “middle” option is to enjoy a guided tour on a paddle board or sea kayak.   This is a wonderful way to be out on the water and explore the islands around Lefkada.  When you’re finished your activities, retreat to your Ionian villa with pool and relax in your very own hot tub.

Cruise

Complete your holiday to Lefkada with a day cruise around the forgotten islands dotted across the calm, turquoise sea off the East coast.  From larger, mountainous islands to tiny rocky formations in the middle of the sea, a day or evening under the stars will take your breath away.  Try cruising on the beautiful MS Christina from Nidri quayside.

Fish

Experience a full day or half day fishing boat trip from Lefkada island.  Here traditional fishermen will show you the best fishing places to visit depending on the weather and season; and they’ll guide you to the most magnificent beaches on the island. All the boats carry the fishing equipment that you’ll need – with techniques and their history explained.   At the end of your day, recommendations are made to a taverna where they will cook your catch for you to enjoy.

Explore

Sail

Make the most of the excellent sailing conditions around Lefkada and charter a yacht from a multitude of companies on the island.  If certified, you can explore further afield with a Bareboat Yacht Charter. Cruise the calm morning waters to discover many of the beautiful bays.  And sail on afternoon winds to enjoy the cool waters and numerous islands.  Those new to sailing may have a skippered charter to sail your chosen route around the Ionian seas.  Use the time to relax or spend your charter learning to sail – just one more benefit of your Ionian villa with pool.

For the adrenaline junkies

British Airways has just announced a new, twice weekly, scheduled service from London Heathrow Terminal 5 to our local airport of Preveza – perfect for your luxury villa holiday at Villa Gabriella Lefkada. This substantially increases capacity and choice on the route and makes getting to your luxury villa holiday on the beautiful Greek island of Lefkada really easy.  Villa Gabriella Lefkada is then just a pleasant 45 minute drive from Preveza.

Covering almost our full season, from May 26 to September 29 the twice weekly service is the first time that London Heathrow has been connected to Preveza with a scheduled service.  This is an ideal route, especially for those based on the west side of London or to the west of London.

Easyjet have launched their schedule through to the end of August 2019.  And the prices are much lower than 2018.  So now’s the time to book your luxury villa rental in the Ionian for your summer 2019 holiday.  It’s quite possible for a family of four to get return flights to Preveza for under £1,000 – on Sundays during the school summer holidays!  And lower season flights are of course less than this.

At Villa Gabriella Lefkada we’ve kept our prices at 2018 levels despite the major investment to heat our beautiful infinity pool.  We’ll be heating from April until mid-June and then again from mid-September to the end of the season.  You really don’t need heating in the high summer.

If you’re holidaying early or late season the Ionian climate makes most pools a tad chilly, so you’re searching for Ionian villas with heated pools? Whilst daytime temperatures in the Ionian in May and October are usually lovely, overnight chills can drop pool temperatures from the “lovely” to the “brrr!” So you need a luxury villa with a heated pool.  And there’s not very many of those!

But you’ve found us, you’ve found Villa Gabriella Lefkada and we do have a heated pool.  And if you’re worried about the carbon footprint, don’t. We use a very efficient air source heat pump, we produce almost 100% of our own electricity and we provide a very efficient pool cover too!

We heat the pool from the start of the season until early June and from mid-September to the end of the season. We heat it to a about 24-25C which is the perfect balance of refreshing and comfortable. So when you’re searching for Ionian villas with heated pools, you know where to come.

Air Source Heat Pump for eco-friendly heating

At Villa Gabriella Lefkada we’ve just installed a powerful air source heat pump from Ecoplus.

This uses the beautiful Greek sunshine to warm our pool in a very environmentally friendly way.  It produces 5Kw of heat into the pool for every 1Kw of electricity used.  Running largely in the morning to benefit from its easterly positioning it maintains the pool at 24-25C.  Discreetly hidden away on a platform below the pool it’s invisible and runs almost silently.  This ensures you get the benefits of warm water whilst not being aware of the technology.

So when you’re choosing your Ionian villa holiday, choose carefully and choose a luxury villa with a heated pool.  You’ll be getting a level of luxury that few villas offer and at a cost that remains very competitive with other luxury villas in Greece and the Ionian.
