Lefkada is the jewel in the beautiful azure waters of the Ionian. Less well known outside Greece than its neighbours Corfu, Kefalonia & Zante, it's a secret the Greeks tend to keep to themselves. And when it's so beautiful, and it's one of only two islands in the whole of Greece connected to the mainland by a bridge (no ferry needed), that's not so hard to understand.
Blessed with countless stunning beaches all with crystal clear water you'll find glorious views across the inland sea to the east; pale, soft sandy beaches on the west coast - including the world famous Egrimini; a kitesurfing paradise at Gyra beach on the north coast and windsurfing heaven at Vasiliki in the south. Not to mention so many pretty little fishing harbours up and down the coast.
But Lefkada is so much more than glorious beaches. The interior opens up to a remote wilderness where you might think time stopped half a century ago. Waterfalls, rugged mountains, ancient olive groves and lentil fields. Small villages where time moves more slowly, tiny churches and wineries. And nearly everywhere you look there is a jaw dropping view.
The sun rises over the mainland to the east - from our terrace you will see the most amazing sunrise every morning. And take a short trip to the west of the island to watch the sun set over the Adriatic - these are the most beautiful sunsets you can see anywhere on earth.
History is all around you too - from ancient amphitheatres to Venetian castles and abandoned villages to bronze age settlement sites. Lefkada has something for everyone.
You'll also find any number of amazing tavernas offering the best of traditional Greek dining from fresh local ingredients, and a wide choice of fine dining restaurants across the island.
